DOOM OF OURSELVES

Day 25 May of 2020. George Floyd was murdered in police custody by some people who were called policemen. He died, actually drowned because a police officer was kneeling on his neck as he lay face down in handcuffs for eight minutes and 46 seconds. But why? Why killing, why violence, why hatred? Why do we hate our own species? I guess I’ll never know the answer just like the rest of humanity. But it is not a barrier for me to analyze current events and how it affects this country of diversity.

I believe that all of this racism illness began centuries ago when people made black people slaves. A lot of people tried to finish it throughout history. However, regardless of the protests, boycotts and constitution amendments that aimed to cure this illness, we see that this hatred against difference was inherited by the people for centuries over and over again. But how do they not observe that hatred is not the solution but the problem itself? I understand that those ill minded people can not see it. But what about the protesters or should I say looters? Why are they using violence? I understand that this murder should not be left without punishment but using violence to protest the murder will neither bring Floyd back nor make people feel safe. This protest of civil rights is starting to turn into a riot full of vandalism.

When I saw the Space X launch I wrote about before, I thought that humanity was going better, that we may sail to a brighter future. But those event brought a dark shadow to my bright thoughts. They made me realize the "real" threat we are facing which is us. We are going to be the doom of ourselves by hurting the nature and fighting each other for money.

Finally, I will close with what children might have felt about the current “protests” (or riots) with fire. It is simple. The only thing children feel is horror. There is a disease out there waiting to kill people. Everything is unclear, people are unemployed. And adding those riots to our problems list is not going to solve anything. We should try peace and law and protests to solve problems, not violence. If we try to solve violence with violence, we will be like trying to blow out a fire with fire.
