A lot of years after the thought of atoms by Democritus, John Dalton took his theory into the first atomic model in the 1800's. But who is John Dalton? Well, he was an English chemist, meteorologist and physicist. He was born on September 6 1766 and died on 27 July 1844. He is also known for his research into color blindness which is sometimes referred to as Daltonism in his honor.
Now, since we have a background about who John Dalton was, we can look into his studies

about atoms which Democritus described as indivisible. If you read our latest post you would know that Dalton’s model is the same as Democritus’. What Jon Dalton said about atoms properties were can be listed as following:
Matter consists of tiny particles called atoms.
Atoms are indestructible and unchangeable which supported Democritus’ theory.
Dalton said that elements are characterized by the weight of their atoms.
It is the element's atoms that combines to form new compounds when elements react.
Do you think that Dalton was completely right? Do you think that atoms were that simple, only a structural sphere? No Dalton was not completely right and atoms were much more complicated and wonderful than he thought. And our next lucky scientist to discover this amazing structure was J.J Thomson who we will go into more detail in our next post.
Well, that is it for today and stay tuned for more.
